• It is free

  No payment, no subscription, no trial that ends. There is no paid tier waiting and nothing is being upsold to you later.

• No account needed

  Everything works signed out. An account exists only so your library can follow you between the website and the app.

• For your own listening

  Personal use. Not for rebroadcast, not for playing to a paying audience, and not as the backend of another product.

• Provided as it is

  One person builds and maintains Mehfil. It can break, change or stop, and it comes with no guarantee of any kind.

Using Mehfil means these terms apply to you. If you do not agree with them, the remedy is simple and costs you nothing: close the tab, or uninstall the app.

• Do not hammer it

  No scripted bulk requests, no working around the rate limits, nothing that makes Mehfil slower or more expensive for everyone else using it.

• Do not pass it off as yours

  The source is public to read and learn from. That is not permission to republish it as your own product or to imply Mehfil endorses yours.

• Do not use it to infringe

  Mehfil is a player for music you are entitled to listen to. Using it to copy or distribute work you have no right to is on you, not on it.

• Be civil in feedback

  Anything you send through the feedback form is read by a person. Abuse, spam or someone else’s private information will simply be deleted.

Mehfil hosts no music. It has no catalogue of its own, stores no audio library and sells no licences. What you hear is played from third-party music and video services — their player on the website, and on Android a stream resolved on your own device. When you use Mehfil you are also using those services, and their terms apply to that use alongside these.

That also sets the limits of what Mehfil can promise. If a service removes a song, blocks a video or changes how it works, it changes here too, and there is nothing Mehfil can do about it. A song that will not play is far more often that than a bug.

If you hold rights in something and believe Mehfil is doing something it should not, write to the address at the foot of this page and say what and where. A person reads it, and it is a great deal faster than a formal notice.

An account is optional and adds exactly one thing: your playlists, likes and listening follow you between devices. Keep your sign-in details to yourself — anyone who has them has your library. Tell us if you think someone else is in your account.

An account that is being used to attack the service can be closed without warning. Yours is otherwise yours; there is no delete button yet, so ask by email and it will be removed by hand. The privacy page says exactly what an account stores.

The app is installed from this site rather than from the Play Store, so your phone will ask you to allow an install from an unknown source. That is your decision to make, and Android is right to ask. The app checks for new versions and can install them itself, which is how a sideloaded app stays current.

Only download it from this website. A Mehfil APK from anywhere else was not built here and could be anything.

Mehfil is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. There is no uptime commitment, no promise that a particular song or service will keep working, and no guarantee that your library cannot be lost — most of it lives in your own browser or phone storage, and clearing that clears it. If it matters to you, sign in, which keeps a copy.

To the extent the law allows, Mehfil is not liable for any loss arising from using it. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away. These terms are governed by Indian law.

These terms can change as the app does. The date below is the honest one — it moves when the substance moves, not when a typo is fixed. Carrying on using Mehfil after a change means the new version applies.
